JERSEY BOYS national tour is making a return appearance at ASU Gammage in Tempe through August 3! Kerry Lengel of The Republic has a great preview with cast member Nicolas Dromard & music director Ron Melrose. Below is a sneak peek:

Nicolas Dromard, the latest actor to star as Four Seasons founder Tommy DeVito in the Broadway tour of “Jersey Boys,” says he got some succinct advice on playing the role: “He’s a V-12 engine that starts the show and really gets it going.”

“It was a really fun e-mail to receive from the Tony-winning playwright,” Dromard says, referring to Rick Elice, co-writer of the book for the Tony Award-winning musical.

“There’s a line in the show that basically implies that these were the records for the guys that went overseas and their sweethearts. This is the music for the guys that fought,” says Ron Melrose, who served as musical director and vocal arranger for the stage show, which premiered at San Diego’s La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 and moved to Broadway the next year.

“They were the music of the regular guys. If the Beatles were standing for ‘All You Need Is Love,’ the Seasons were the guys from the wrong side of the tracks saying, ‘You’re beautiful, but you’re an upper-class girl and I’m a lower-class guy, and I can’t date you.’”
