Jersey Boys Second Natl Tour Is Sensational in Syracuse!

October 13th, 2012

Post-Standard contributing writer Len Fonte states, “JERSEY BOYS, now settled in for a run at the Landmark Theatre, is the story of the iconic pop group Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Although the show runs through the group’s overstuffed catalogue of hits, JERSEY BOYS is no greatest hits tribute show, but rather a surprisingly moving story of the joys and perils of friendship.” Here’s a preview of this rave review:

While the show focuses on iconic frontman Frankie Valli (Brad Weinstock), “Jersey Boys” honors the multiple perspectives of the band members, who each take a turn telling the story. Bad boy Tommy DiVito (Colby Foytik) takes young Frankie under his wing, leading to inevitable run-ins with the law. The fastidious, underappreciated Nick Massi (Brandon Andrus) gives loyal support, but broods over his place in the band. The special bond between Valli and fellow band member and group songwriter Bob Gaudio (Jason Kappus) causes tensions that come close to breaking the band apart. In a shorthand that never seems like caricature, the show also lovingly portrays the usual Jersey types, including mob bosses, fast girls, and street kids hungry to make a buck. Even movie tough guy Joe Pesci makes an appearance.
