Jersey Boys Tells It All About The Four Seasons

June 3rd, 2007

Evan Henerson, Theater Writer for the Los Angeles Daily News recently spoke with original Four Seasons Bob Gaudio and Frankie Valli, along with co-authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice about the megahit Jersey Boys, which opens at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles TONIGHT!

Here’s a sneak peek of this interesting piece:

The difference between actually rocking an audience and watching somebody playing you, singing your music and rocking an audience?

The experiences are comparable, says songwriter Bob Gaudio, whose music both before and during his run with the pop group the Four Seasons has sold 175 million records.

“This is essentially a flashback for me,” says Gaudio, who is represented along with his fellow Seasons bandmates in the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys.” “I get the same feeling watching this show that I did when I was on the stage. Maybe it’s just vicariously.”

“The other nice thing about a play like this,” adds Four Seasons lead singer Frankie Valli, “is that you don’t actually have to go to work.”

  1. And, from the spectator’s perspective, the show rocks! I was fortunate enough to see the production on the Thursday before the gala opening (thanks to JB “sometimes-correspondent” Howard Tucker!) and boy was it impressive. I felt like I was “right there.” Whether singing under the street lamp, or getting the call from the daughter (ok, you’ll just have to go see it to know what I’m talking about!) it was all amazing. So, to EVERYone who made this happen…thank you!
