SF/Chicago Jersey Boys Will Salute ‘The Sopranos’ at the Emmys!

September 12th, 2007

Steve Gorman of Reuters.com reports that the San Francisco/Chicago Company of the Tony-winning Jersey Boys will pay tribute to Tony Soprano and his crew of New Jersey TV gangsters in a musical performance planned for the upcoming Emmy Awards telecast, producers said on Wednesday

“The Sopranos,” which concluded its celebrated six-season HBO run in June, is considered a front-runner in the Emmy Awards derby with 15 nominations in all, the most of any series this year. If it wins for best drama, it would become the first regular American series ever to do so after its final season.

Emmy’s Producer Ken Ehrlich said the musical send-off planned for the mob drama would feature a number of songs from the Jersey Boys score, which features such Four Seasons hits as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Sherry.”

The Emmys will be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Sunday, September 16 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT) tape-delayed) on FOX.

  2. Finally a performance by the 2nd Nat’l Tour cast that I can add to my DVR! After watching numerous OBC performances and teasers as well as the 1st Nat’l Tour on the Tonight’s Show, this appearance featuring Jarrod and the entire cast will be exciting! What a perfect event for one Jersey institution to honor another with a musical tribute.
