JLY Performs At NY Pops Gala TONIGHT!
April 30th, 2007Tonight, Tony Award-winner John Lloyd Young, along with other stars from Broadway, popular music, film, and television, will perform on the Carnegie Hall stage with The New York Pops in support of the orchestra and its education programs and free Summermusic concerts. The 24th Birthday Gala, entitled “Musical Fireworks,” will honor Macy’s and orchestra patrons Paula and Tom McInerney, and feature a tribute to Neil Sedaka on the 50th anniversary of his start in show business. The gala begins at 7PM.
JLY will join the Young People’s Chorus of New York City under the direction of Francisco Nunez in an new version of “What A Wonderful World,†that was arranged by Ron Melrose and orchestrated by Steve Orich.
JLY can add another stellar performance to his career. This is one of the main reasons I extended my trip to NY this past weekend. The Pops Birthday Gala is such a wonderful event showcasing a wide variety of performers. It was nice to see at least one JB at Carnegie Hall again…(the “Boys” sang last year).
