Louisville Loves Jersey Boys!
August 5th, 2010The JERSEY BOYS national production tour is rocking the world of Louisville! Check out excerpts from the latest fabulous reviews!
Laura Morton, LEO Weekly: The production shines. The music sweeps through, and the story is intriguing and exciting. It’s broken up into four parts — each of the four tell their version of a certain time. The first act, told from the point of view of DeVito and then Gaudio, is nostalgic for a different time and optimistic for their possibilities…But more than anything, music drives the show. And because the music is so familiar, there’s great anticipation as to what the next song will be.
The cast is amazing, as one would expect from a Broadway national tour. The voices and harmonies are just like the original, and one can’t help but clap along to the music, sway to the tunes or even mouth the words. It seems that when anyone sees an understudy instead of the original cast, they’re always amazed at how good they are — and this time is no different. Buck Hujabre went in for the role of Bob Gaudio and hit it out of the park.
Charles Whaley, Louisville Evening News & Tribune: If you go to JERSEY BOYS at the Kentucky Center just to revel in those numerous hit songs of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth and conclude, “Oh, What a Night.†But this touring show in the PNC Broadway Across America series is much more than a jukebox musical, thanks to book writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and director Des McAnuff. It brings to life the warts-and-all biographies of its working-class strivers. Glorious songs by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe are socked home by an incredible foursome led by Joseph Leo Bwarie as Valli. Equally impressive as Valli’s singing partners are Matt Bailey as cocky Tommy DeVito, who mentored him; Steve Gouveia as Nick Massi, and Ryan Jesse as Gaudio, the musical genius whose songs catapulted the group to stardom.
I’m personally very happy for Buck.(Bob Gaudio)
Months ago I saw this guy in a Target store getting a bite for he and his wife. He had a Jersey Boys jacket on and my curiosity got to me. Jersey Boys was in playing in town in Providence.
I asked him about the jacket and I said “great show, heh?” He said “Yeh. I’m in it”. Of course I didn’t recognize him. He was playing Norm Waxman. Joe Long etc. and at that point I had only seen the Broadway show.
We chatted for a short while. Very personable, just a great guy. I wish him the very best with the show and to his young family as well.

Just want to add that John Michael Dias, the alternate Frankie on the tour, is also fantastic.
