Melbourne’s Next Big Musical–Jersey Boys!
May 21st, 2009News from Ross Brundrett, HeraldSun.com:
The young Australian stars of the mob-infused hit story of 1960s pop group The Four Seasons, took a break from rehearsals yesterday to perform a medley of the group’s early hits (Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry and Walk Like a Man) for the media.
Despite it being launched in a recession — it premieres at the Princess Theatre on July 4 — producer Ronald Rigby was happy to predict a long Melbourne season for the show.
“Early ticket sale indications are good and we’d be looking at being here for at least a year,” he said.
The show features a cast of “unknowns” including Bobby Fox as the diminutive Frankie Valli and Scott Johnson as the explosive Tommy DeVito. Scott, a journeyman musician and actor, is the son of 1970s singer songwriter Kevin Johnson of “Rock’n'roll I Gave You All The Best Years Of My Life” fame.
