Another milestone, folks! From Theatermania.com: As of this evening’s performance, Jersey Boys became the 12th-longest-running show in Broadway history. The musical played its 4,093rd performance, surpassing Miss Saigon’s 4,092-performance run.

Jersey Boys opened on November 6, 2005, at the August Wilson Theatre and earned four Tony Awards including Best Musical. The show has been seen by over 23 million people worldwide and is currently playing in New York, Las Vegas, London, in cities across North America on national tour, and across the U.K. on national tour.

Written by Marshall Brickman (The Addams Family) and Rick Elice (Peter and the Starcatcher), the musical follows the rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the popular 1960s pop/rock quartet made famous by hit songs such as “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Jersey Boys also features music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and direction by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The company currently stars tars Richard H. Blake (Tommy Devito), Matt Bogart (Nick Massi), Joseph Leo Bwarie (Frankie Valli), and Quinn VanAntwerp (Bob Gaudio). Peter Gregus, Mark Lotito, Candi Boyd, Jared Bradshaw, Cara Cooper, John Edwards, Frankie J. Galasso, Leo Huppert, Rory Max Kaplan, Katie O’Toole, Joe Payne, Mauricio Pérez, John Rochette, Jessica Rush, Dominic Scaglione Jr., Nathan Scherich, and Sara Schmidt complete the company.

Congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative team on their latest amazing milestone!

  2. My wife and I were fortunate to have been there the first week it actually opened. We were at a Wednesday matinee show on October 12th, 2005. At the intermission we both agreed that JLY and Christian might be up for Broadway Gold, The Tony Award.
Have seen it a number of times since, including the Touring group back in our hometown of Scranton Pa. It played for 12 days in February of 2014 before over 23,000 people. Don’t know if it will ever end as one paper stated, “it will play forever”.
