Cam Fuller has a wonderful piece on Nick Cosgrove, JERSEY BOYS first national tour’s “Frankie Valli,” who achieved his dream role in the blockbuster hit show:

A lot of actors toil in obscurity until finally getting their big break. And, once they do, everyone falsely assumes they’re an overnight success.

That’s not Nick Cosgrove’s story. Nick Cosgrove really is an overnight success.

“What’s so crazy is that not even a year ago I was on the phone with my agent telling her ‘I just want to be part of the show,’” Cosgrove said recently.

“The show” is Jersey Boys, Tony winner for best musical which now boasts seven touring companies and has been seen by 15 million people.

A few years ago, one of those 15 million was Cosgrove himself, still in high school in Chicago. He was spellbound by the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and amazed that Frankie sings 27 songs over the course of two and a half hours, and hardly ever leaves the stage.

“This role is monumental,” he remembers thinking. “I want to train to do that. I want to do that.”
