Nicolas Dromard Heads Home to Ottawa in Jersey Boys!
June 26th, 2013The JERSEY BOYS national tour company plays the NAC in Ottawa from June 26 through July 7! Ottaway Citizen’s Tony Lofard has a great feature with Nicolas Dromard, who is returning to his hometown starring as Tommy DeVito in the hit show. Check out a preview:
Before Jersey Boys, Dromard portrayed Bert, the chimney sweep in the Broadway production of Mary Poppins. It’s a role he performed for a year-and-a half on tour as well as more than two years on Broadway. One of the big numbers for the character has Bert dancing up the side of a wall.“I played Bert and the role was fantastic, but to be able to come home and perform in this show, this is what I’ve been waiting for in my career,” he says.
Dromard started dancing at age six after watching an old Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers movie musical at his French elementary school in Ottawa. His mother, Joelle, says his teachers told her that Nicolas was so captivated by the movie that he was always tap dancing down the corridors.
“So I asked Nicolas if he wanted to take tap dancing lessons, and he said yes, because he wanted to tap dance like Fred Astaire,” says his mother Joelle Dromard.
