Diana Platter has an interesting piece on Peter Saide and his big break playing one of the founding members of The Four Seasons in JERSEY BOYS Las Vegas.
Saide is ecstatic with his role, his new life in Las Vegas with his American dancer wife, Harriette, and musical theatre in general.
It’s a long way from Brisbane where he was born, Toowoomba where he grew up and Mackay where he studied at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
The singer and actor who has never worked professionally in Australia – ”I skipped town very quickly” – landed his first job after graduating, at Tokyo Disneyland where he was in a Broadway review playing to 10,000 people a week at the age of 20.
He later went ”chasing a girl to America via Europe” and while he was in Las Vegas he landed a job in a cruise ship show.
”Vegas has been unexpectedly good to me,” he says.
The Jersey Boys gig came up while Saide was in New York last year, just as he was celebrating receiving his green card after marrying his American love (not the one he had chased).
”Within two days I got my green card and my American debut,” the 26-year-old says.
Vegas is one of six Jersey Boys shows worldwide – a touring US production, New York, London, Toronto and Melbourne, which will close on July 25 and open in Sydney on September 18.
