As previously announced, Dominic Scaglione Jr. will assume the role of Frankie Valli in the Broadway cast beginning TONIGHT–Tuesday, July 30, 2013! BroadwayWorld.com has fabulous photo coverage by Joan Marcus of Dominic and his castmates.
Along with wowing audiences on Broadway as the two-show Frankie in recent years, Dominic has rocked the stage in the role in the Las Vegas and Chicago JERSEY BOYS productions! Like many of our JBB readers, we have had the most awesome time following Dom throughout his JB journey–from his early days as Frankie in Vegas, to his two-show Frankie Broadway debut, then, of course, in Chicago–and, back to Broadway!
Let’s take a trip down memory lane for just a bit. Picture this: Almost five years ago to the day, August 1, 2008–the JBB Tech Half’s birthday. What better way to celebrate his day than an evening JERSEY BOYS performance in Vegas?! What else would you rather do on your special day? Well, a week or two prior, we were hearing how great the “new kid” playing Frankie twice a week in Vegas was–so we expected another great show. Dominic Scaglione, Jr. DELIVERED! By the time the new Frankie sang “A Sunday Kind of Love” in the church scene, the Tech Half & I were convinced Dom would be headed to Broadway! To quote the church lady in JB, “I told you it wasn’t no vision!” Our prediction came true–as Dominic quickly headed to Broadway in September 2008! Turns out, we happened to be in the Big Apple for another JB event and Dominic’s performance was absolutely stellar (with musical genius Bob Gaudio in the audience, sitting just two rows behind us, btw!)!
Following his Broadway matinee run, Dominic received rave reviews as he took over the Frankie role in Chicago! In the summer of 2009, the stars were in alignment as we had the chance to visit the Windy City to see how great Scags and the Chicago company were for ourselves! I could keep going and going and going, like that bunny on TV with that battery regarding Dom’s awesome return to Broadway as the two-show Frankie in 2010 and how he has continuously wow’ed audiences, but I’ll just modify a Bob Gaudio line in JB: “Scags, this is your time!”
Dominic’s talent on stage as Frankie Valli is obviously stunning, with his flawless vocals and the wide range of emotions he brings out in Frankie, from the highest highs to some of the lowest lows, but his graciousness and kindness to fans is every bit as wonderful as his performances!

Dom is going to “SHINE” tonight as he puts on those FV shoes and brings down the August Wilson Theatre!! Its going to be an amazing night for Dom and his fans as he shares his talents!! Congratulations!!!

When I learned the Chicago production was finally closing its ’6 month’ run after 2.5 years, I knew I had to be there. I drove out to one of those places you fly over on your way to LA to see Dominic’s final performance on 1/10/10. What a performance (and what an audience who had gotten to know Dominic and the rest of the cast). It felt subzero outside but still there were people outside overnight for SR tickets. I chatted it up after the show with his family, who many of us have enjoyed meeting.
With all the excitement of the final performance, cameras, Rick & Marshall speaking from stage – I can become a bit frozen. But Dominic was cool, calm and focused in all that activity and immediately greeted Linda with birthday wishes. He’s his own pr person, without even trying; it’s just who he is. I walked off – lingering till the end and darn if he didn’t make a point to come over & say ‘goodbye’ although we had already spoken.
Then a few months later I saw him doing the final performance of the evening for the NJ Hall of Fame Awards at NJ PAC, when Frankie was inducted. Dom is a home grown Jersey guy from Jersey Boys and was simply perfect for the occasion!(I seem to recall seeing backstage photos of him with Pesci and Nicholson, too!)
more memories … I remember him posing with Frankie, Bob, etc. at the Paley Center during the JB 5th anniversary weekend and once again he made a point to say hello at the fan gathering. I’ve even seen him at the Belmont Tavern enjoying time with castmates. Yep, lots of memories and more ahead! All the best Dominic!

I remember that last show in Chicago with Audrey. I’ve never been that cold in my life. But I warmed up quickly with an amazing show that I will never forget. And I was especially touched that you knew it was my birthday.
Congratulations Dom!!! I’m so happy for you and glad I got to see your last show as the “2 show Frankie” last Saturday.
Break a leg and look forward to seeing you again soon on Broadway.

I had always wanted to see Dominic as Frankie, and thought I’d be seeing him for the first time at the Wednesday or Saturday matinee on Broadway in May 2009. I had already bought my ticket and was sad to find out he was going to Chicago instead. I later found out the Chicago production was closing in Jan 2010, so I decided to visit Chicago for the first time, and by myself for my birthday in November 2009. Had the pleasure of seeing him as the “main” Frankie for three shows on my 3-day trip. He was nice to pose for two photos with me.
I was glad that he was back on Broadway as the two-show Frankie, and have gone to see him another 12 more times on Broadway. During those times, I’ve gotten to know him and he is such a sweetheart at stage door. I shall continue my tradition as seeing him as Frankie on my birthday, which I had since 2009, with the exception for 2012. Looking forward to seeing him again in November.
Congratulations, Dominic! Your hard work and patience has paid off! You deserve it! This is your time to SHINE! Sending all my love and best wishes!

This is so well deserved. I saw Dom as Frankie years ago and was so impressed. I think his “Fallen Angel” was the best ever. I am so happy for him and also for Joseph Leo Bwarie.
