Reviewer Says Jersey Boys ‘Kicks Ass’ in North Charleston!

November 8th, 2013

Entertainment writer Jeff Walker sums it up about the JERSEY BOYS production at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center (playing through Sunday, 11/10/13) by stating that it “kicks ass”! Below is an excerpt of his review:

The four lead actors are all fabulous in the respective roles. Nick Cosgrove plays the suave and caring Frankie Valli. Cosgrove looks like a young Valli and has the vocal range to back it up. Nicolas Dromard is superb as Tommy DeVito the group’s less than scrupulous manager. The Canadian born thespian now makes his home in Jersey City. Go figure.

Rounding out the quartet Brandon Andrus is equally compelling as the solemn and often overlooked Nick Massi or as his character so eloquently chimes in late in the production, “it’s no fun being Ringo”. The final member Bob Gaudio is left in the capable hands of Jason Kappus. A Seattle native who moved to NYC in 2010 with big dreams. I’d say he’s well on his way. Kappus portrays the Four Season’s principle songwriter as both businesslike and innocent.

Kudos to Barry Anderson as well for turning in a splendid depiction of music producer Bob Crewe, who many believe to be the fifth Season. Without Crewe’s guidance and studio expertise the band may have never reached the pinnacle they achieved. Anderson is ideally cast. The rest of the cast are just as awesome.
