Sebastian Arcelus to Play Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys on Broadway!

December 12th, 2007

Broadway.com reports that Sebastian Arcelus has signed on to play Bob Gaudio in the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, beginning January 10, 2008. Daniel Reichard, who originated the role, will play his final performance in the Tony-winning musical on January 9. Arcelus will join Tony winner Christian Hoff (Tommy DeVito) and J. Robert Spencer (Nick Massi), both of whom have reportedly extended their runs in the show, and Michael Longoria, who recently assumed the role of Frankie Valli.

Arcelus is currently playing the role of Fiyero in Wicked opposite his wife, Stephanie J. Block. His other Broadway credits include Rent and Good Vibrations and he has appeared in productions of The Full Monty, Aida, and Floyd Collins. He was also recently featured in Barbara Cook’s Carnegie Hall concert and subsequent recording, “No One is Alone.” His voice can also be heard on numerous cartoons, most notably as the voice of Papi on Nickelodeon’s “Go, Diego, Go!”

Congratulations to Sebastian!

  4. Just curious why Dominic Nofi wasn’t chosen. He was incredible as Bob Gaudio. Actually he’s been amazing in every role he’s played. I love him and think he is going places.

  6. I just saw Sebastian in “Wicked” Thursday evening. He has a great voice…I kept closing my eyes to try to picture him as Bob Gaudio…(his currently long hair which he kept brushing back slightly hindered my imagery)…but as my husband pointed out, he has a laid-back style, a good voice and is a good actor. If you get a chance to see him in “Wicked” opposite his wife, Stephane Block before he leaves, you’re in for a treat!
