March 20th, 2007

Theatermania.com reports that Disney Theatrical Productions has announced casting for The Little Mermaid. The big news is this: Former Jersey Boys cast member Tituss Burgess will play busybody crab, Sebastian!

Along with Tituss, heading the company are Sierra Boggess as Ariel, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder, and Sherie René Scott as Ursula. The production will be directed by Francesca Zambello and choreographed by Stephen Mear.

The show will play the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver from July 26 through September 9 and Broadway performances are scheduled to begin at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 3 and will open officially on December 6.

Congratulations to Tituss!

  1. I’m thrilled for you Tituss; they couldn’t find a more talented or nicer human being for the role. See you “Under the Sea” my friend.

  4. Congratulations Tituss!
I look forward to seeing you in a comedy relief
role as Sebastian. Only you can play such a
fun role. Sebastian is one of my favorite characters
    from The Little Mermaid.

This is going to be a real treat for us to see as another great broadway stage actor with a powerful
voice will be joining Tituss, which is Norm Lewis.
King Triton is a perfect role for Norm to play as his voice is so powerful and his presence so commanding.
To have Tituss & Norm together on the stage, WOW this is going to be great! I can’t wait to see this show.
