On January 16, 2005, the La Jolla Playhouse musical JERSEY BOYS closed after 120 performances, making it the longest running production in the history of the venue. The show was extended three times and went onto great success on Broadway and all over the globe!

I’ll never forget my first reaction (most of you guys have read this story dozens of times): I remember turning to the future JBB Tech Half at intermission and telling him, “JERSEY BOYS is going to Broadway and that guy playing Tommy DeVito [Christian Hoff] and this show are both going to win Tony Awards!”

How many of you saw JERSEY BOYS when it played in La Jolla? What did you think of the show back then?

  1. I saw it 6 times in La Jolla. When we saw it the first time, my friend who goes to shows with me also said this show was going to Broadway. We were there the first weekend in New York. Still love it and can’t wait to see it in Las Vegas.

  2. I remember so well! The show was amazing and then running into my BFF, Jen Naimo, at the hotel we were staying at. I told Jen “when this goes to Broadway, I’ll see you there”, and it did, and she did, and I did, and the rest is history!
