Two years ago today, February 3, 2009, was officially named “Bob Gaudio Day†in Bergenfield in a proclamation by the borough mayor and council. On that day, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy winner received an honorary Bergenfield High School diploma — an event more than 50 years in the making!

To quote Tommy DeVito in JERSEY BOYS, “You might wanna check out the graduate course.” Last night, as I was in the middle of teaching 25 grad students some exciting library research techniques, my phone rang (whoops, forgot to turn it off)–with my “Walk Like A Man” ringtone. After quite a few students smiled and chuckled, four guys in the front row did their own short rendition of the song. (They weren’t quite ready for a JB audition, but still, not bad!)
Amazing how Bob Gaudio’s fantastic music can be an ice breaker in a classroom!
