Two Years of Jersey Boys Blog!

July 1st, 2007

It was a wonderful surprise today to have so many fantastic fans acknowledge the second anniversary of Jersey Boys Blog! Thank you to Audrey, Irene, Howard, Beverley, Stacey and Nanci for such awesome anniversary greetings!

Picture this–Seeing Jersey Boys for the first time at La Jolla Playhouse–December 2004: Being a huge Four Seasons fan, there was no way on earth I would have missed seeing this show! I didn’t know what to expect, but of course, within five minutes of the production, I was completely blown away. At intermission, I turned to Dale (who was soon to be JBB’s Tech-Half) and said, “Trust me, this show is going to Broadway and Christian Hoff is going to win a Tony.” Although Dale was also blown away by the show and Christian’s performance, he said, “Hey, this guy is great, but what the hell do you know about Tony Awards?” (Honestly, at the time, not much.) At the end of the show, following the standing ovation, I turned to him again and said, “You heard it here first: Hoff’s winning a Tony and Jersey Boys will win a Tony whenever it goes to Broadway!”

Sure enough, the analytical future Tech Half started pondering my prediction that Jersey Boys was going to be BIG. On the plane ride home, he said, “If you start a blog, you can capture a niche.”

With all the press releases, newsflashes, and chatter about Jersey Boys’ upcoming fall 2005 opening on Broadway, Jersey Boys Blog debuted two years ago today! While we were certain the show would be the hottest ticket on Broadway, never in our wildest blog dreams did we expect such an amazing response to Jersey Boys Blog!

They ask us, What’s been the high point? Posting all the amazing reviews and video clips? Announcing the big Tony Awards? Interviewing the phenomenal cast, crew, and creative team members? It’s all been great. But bringing the fans together on Broadway, in San Francisco, in LA, and in future cities to share in the joy, excitement, and passion for Jersey Boys–that’s been the best!

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Jersey Boys Blog. In the words of Bob Gaudio, “None of this could have happened…without you.”

  1. What a great story. And I know it is a true labor of love which makes it all the more special.

And by the way, you have Gaudio’s words backward. The rest of us are just contributors. “None of this could have happened…without you.”

  2. Susie, with all the interaction we’ve had, I never knew the full story of your visiting La Jolla and your predictions re the Tony’s for Christian and “Jersey Boys”. (Hey, you could be a competing psychic with Sylvia Browne on Montel’s show!!)

When I came to the end of this piece, I truthfully was “tearin’ up”, and not in the way of Tituss or Kris when Daniel tries to sell them on CTMEOY. I’m happy you and Dale know the extent of how many fans you’ve transformed into friends whose relationships have begun to extend beyond “Jersey Boys”. You’re right–that is the best! Thanks and congratulations.

  3. You ask hundreds of blog fans, you get ONE version. Susie and Dale, “You are the best!” Thanks for all the excitement you have added to our experience as dedicated fans of Jersey Boys. Actually, I think my fellow fans would agree – We have become great fans of Jersey Boys because we have become great fans of YOU! That is the BEST! My hand to G-d!

  4. Susie and Dale: After two years, you are still out there posting the Jersey Boys Blog like that bunny on TV with the battery…Let’s hope you keep going and going and going chasing the news, knowing that Jersey Boy fans will remember it the way we need to…THANKS from just one of your most loyal and grateful readers!!!

  5. Susie, you and Dale have gathered fans of a show and fans of a cast and guided us into becoming a community. Thanks for your hard work! I know how thrilled I was when you chose one of my suggestions for the Jersey Boys poll and mentioned my name on the blog . . . that was my 15 minutes of fame! Also, because of your up-to-date info, I was able to see the JB at the Pops Gala concert at Carnegie Hall last year, and at a few other venues. A new job has kept me from visiting NYC as often as I would like, but my daily dose of the JB Blog keeps me current! Thanks again!

  9. I am so glad I stumbled upon this blog. It has brought me so much joy to see how many fans this great show has. And without the dedicated fans…none of this would have happen. Jersey Boys Blog is the onet that really got us, that pushed us over the top.

  10. Congrats!!! I got a bit emotional for this article. I haven’t been here as long as other fans have but I feel truly touched by your words. Not only that but by your constant dedication to this site and the fans. I appreciate everything you do so we can come together and love JB as a community. All of you who work on this are so commited! It’s as if you said “You wanna do this thing? So we do it. You want a contract? Here… a Jersey contract.” Everything you bring us is so exciting and very informative. Without this site I wouldn’t know nearly as much about the show, the stars, or anything. It’s been wonderful so far and I can’t wait to see more. JBB, “you’re just too good to be true!”

    Comment by Lauren — July 2, 2007 @ 11:15 am

  11. Since everyone else seems to be quoting from the show I just have one thing to say about JBB:

    “It’s f–kin’ dynamite!”

Seriously, though, it is amazing to me how dedicated you two are. Thank you so much! I, too, am so glad that I stumbled upon JBB. It’s like haivng an inside track to everything “Jersey Boys”!

    Comment by Courtney — July 2, 2007 @ 11:26 am

  12. Lol, Courtney. It is definitely like an inside peek at what is happening, since we all can’t always be there!

  13. One of the real highlights of my recent trip to LA was meeting the creators of the fantastic Jersey Boys Blog. It’s the first place to go for all things Jersey Boys. Congratulations, Susie and Dale, on two great years with, I’m happy to say, no end in sight! Regards, Charles

  14. Everyone here is such a great source of Jersey Boys and Four Seasons information that I refer everyone I know that is curious about the play and original group to this blog.

I’ve met and corresponded with many other fans, shared info about who’s showing up where, when they would be on TV next, and also having a chance to see interesting and cool pieces of memorabilia that we would not normally know that exists.

I thank you also for considering my family and I as “JBB Fantastic Fans”, giving me the chance to add information coming from the SF fanbase and also for your “hard, fun, informative” work in getting all of the cool interviews and news flashes to us about our favorite group and play.

I know that Jersey Boys and the Four Seasons are a Worldwide institution because every country loves them, knows about the music, are anticipating the World tour and are educated by this blog.

Thanks to Susie and Dale! Keep up the “Excellent” work on the blog!

P.S.: I finally received my copy of “Jersey Beat” on Thursday, and have not put it down since….. Love your contribution to the book Susie! The DVD is just something that I had totally expected, seeing the changing of the “Four Seasons” as time progressed….. Thanks for all of the information about “Jersey Beat”! Glad I purchased it.

  15. One of the most important things in life is to say “thank you”. It’s so wonderful to see that everybody above has shown you how appreciated the Blog is, and how indeed loved the two of you are. And the quotes from the show are so appropos!

    Comment by Howard Tucker — July 2, 2007 @ 1:51 pm

  16. I thank you for this blog, as well. I read it all the time, but this is the first time I’ve commented. What a surprise to see that “Jersey Boys” will be in Sacramento! A friend of mine who has season tickets in Sac. said – a big Broadway play is coming, do you think It might be “JB”? I said no, since it is in San Francisco I doubt it would come to Sacramento. Then there it was on your blog! Yahoo!!! We are only about 45 min. to an hour from Sac.!! :) Thanks for your effort.

  19. Congratulations on two years of excellence. I know the amount of time and dedication it takes to maintain a site like this. Thank you for your dedication to Jersey Boys and allowing us to enjoy the results of your efforts. Here’s to many more years… Frank

    Comment by Frank Rovello — July 3, 2007 @ 7:24 pm

  20. Susie and Dale- I left my warm congratulatory wishes, as many others did, on your first post ever (http://jerseyboysblog.com/?p=23) the other day.

Frank Rovello pointed out in his comment here about the huge amount of time required to create and maintain a quality Blog. It made me recall when I learned about just one day in the life of your blog… when 700 spam comments had to be deleted. Let’s see- multiply that by two years of days. (Irene-help me out here- with the math.) It adds up to a lot of work you two do that we have no hint of.

There are such great comments from everyone. Many like to quote the show- since it smoothly fits into poignant moments of expression; but Jim, your sentiments take the prize for uniquely imbedding the songs as you did.

David summed it up, though- “None of this could have happened… without you.” Thanks again for all you two do every single day!

  22. I just wanted to add my acknowledgment and deep appreciation for the unbelievable job you do in keeping Jersey Boys Blog readers informed about all things Jersey Boys/Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons! It absolutely amazes me that you can keep up with the seemingly endless series of news items related to the Broadway show, the touring companies, the future productions scheduled for Las Vegas, London and Toronto, as well as information about the original Jersey Boy, Frankie Valli, and other interesting facts and features regarding the various line-ups comprising The 4 Seasons.

Being a long-time fan of Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons, I find it especially satisfying to see this blog harness the affection that so many people seem to have for Jersey Boys and the music of Mr. Valli and the Seasons. There appears to be a vibrant community of Jersey Boys fans that just keeps on growing. And some of the credit for that must go to the two blog administrators, Susie and Dale! So, please, keep up the great work!!!!

I, for one, check the blog on an almost daily basis; even if for only a few minutes. I do this just to be sure I’m not missing out on anything important. I then spend two or three days a week really taking an in-depth look at what I may have skimmed over on a previous day.

So, a big thank you to all the fans who have created a demand for this blog, and a special thank you to Susie and Dale for developing this forum and providing the platform for getting this community connected!

Hopefully, one day, we’ll be celebrating 20 years of the Jersey Boys Blog!!!!

    Congratulations and warmest regards.

  23. Susie & Dale “Thanks for the Memories” and Congratulations on 2 great years of hard work you both put together a great blog for us fans to enjoy.
Perfect example, I have not been reading the JBB in a while because I have been very busy with other obligations and traveling with work and all. Today, I had the complete day to myself and was able to go all the way back to May and catch up on all that has been happening with Jersey Boys. Thanks to you and Dale I have the ability to go back on the blog and read about the events I missed. I was the first JBB Fantastic Fan you interviewed and it’s an honor I still cherish. I want to thank you for making some great memories for me. Sorry I am the last person to thank you but it has been very hectic for me with all thats going on in my life. I do want to say Thanks Again for all that you do for us fans and for always being there for us.
Susie, I still chuckle when I think all this JBB Fantastic Fan interviews “would not be possible if weren’t for Me” LOL After all I was the first!

    Be Well

  25. Well… it’s a month later and time for another ‘birthday’. Happy Birthday to the ever talented ‘Tech Half’ of the JB Blog!! Dale, our gratitude is ongoing for all you do. You continue to amaze us.

As Bob Gaudio said “I thought I would come in as an equal partner”. You got that right.

I hope you and Susie worked out a favored nations on any mechanical and ancillary rights that came along because none of this could have happened without YOU!

‘Walk Like a Man’ on this happy occasion and many, many more!

  26. How could I ever follow that eloquence, Audrey? You’re not from around here, are you??

Dale, life is full of miracles and you and Susie certainly accomplished a huge one this past year by bringing so many of us Jersey Boys Bloggers together in friendships that will probably last our lifetimes. You both listened to your hearts and followed your dreams before “Jersey Boys” became a household name, and just look at the result!

I wish you much happiness and more miracles in your new birthday year, Dale. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for so many of us.

    Comment by Howard Tucker — August 1, 2007 @ 10:33 pm

  27. It was great seeing you, Susie and Dale, at the big Tribute last night. It could not have been a proper celebration without you there. The original Broadway and current cast, the original Four Seasons, Elice and Brickman, fans born and cultivated on the Blog here… and YOU! Perfect together!

Thanks for coming and everything you’ve done to bring us all together.
