USA TODAY’s Brian Truitt previews some of big movies scheduled for 2014 and of course, there’s a great write-up on JERSEY BOYS!

The pop-music biopic: Jersey Boys (June 20)

Director: Clint Eastwood
Stars: John Lloyd Young, Christopher Walken, Freya Tingley
Concept: The popular Broadway jukebox musical comes to the big screen, telling the story of vocal group Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. All the group’s famous tunes are in the movie, but it explores more of Valli’s life than the musical version, including the relationship with his estranged daughter, Francine (Tingley).

Back story: Eastwood hopes audiences can’t take their eyes off Young in the role of Valli. The director plucked most of his cast from various stage productions, including Young. A 2006 Tony winner with 1,300 performances under his belt, Young has played Valli more than anybody other than the man with the famous falsetto himself.

“There’s no better audition than playing your Tony-winning role on the original Broadway stage in front of the prospective movie director,” Young says. And by casting roles with theater vets, Eastwood “solidified the legacy of the theater production forever.”

How about that photo? How excited are you guys for the June 20th release of the JERSEY BOYS movie?

  2. Being a huge fan of the stage show and seeing the bad transitions from stage to screen in the past I am withholding my enthusiasm until seeing the movie. However, I will be seeing the stage show as often as possible.

  4. I CANNOT wait!! Clint is doing a good job of hiding production clips and pictures, so I was thrilled to see this :) I have seen the tour five times, and I am so excited to see it on the screen. The article also mentions that it will include more of Frankie’s life, too. Hopefully it has more on EVERYONE’S life!!

  5. With Clint Eastwoods experience and the GREAT EXPERIENCE of the selected cast members …this movie has to be a winner.

Have seen the Broadway version several times. Have seen Frankie and his show many times, and will see him again on Long Island this Spring.. just cannot wait to be able to buy a copy of the movie version. All we need now is a hardcover of THE FRANKIE VALLI story. God Bless all involved with this wonderful music.

  7. I don’t think the person on the far left of this promo/poster is John Lloyd Young. Maybe I just can’t see very well.
