Cory Grant–Broadway and Chicago Crooner

November 29th, 2008

Peter Gianopulos of North Shore Magazine has an interesting piece on Cory Grant, who plays Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys Chicago!

Grant says he still isn’t sure how he got the part — the chance to play Frankie Valli … in Jersey Boys … on Broadway — but to be honest with you, he isn’t quite sure he wants to know. If you won, in his words, “the lottery,” would you really want to know why the Quick Pick gods chose you?

“I must,” he says, “have filled all the requirements.”

Shorter than 5’8″. Can do the splits like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Can sing higher than Tiny Tim. And can grow a mane of black hair that would have made Elvis jealous.

  1. It’s interesting. Doing splits is one of the requirements for the role!

  3. I saw Jersey Boys tonight, 1/8/09 and Cory Grant shined like star. He either looks just like someone that I can’t recall who it is, or I know this man from somewhere. Can anyone tell me a little bit about his past, other than his roles in Jersey Boys?

  4. We were at the same performance. He was terrific! And
he reminds me of Tom Cavanagh, from the NBC series, “Ed”.

  9. Cory Grant is truly amazing as Frankie Valli. His acting and singing was perfect and made you believe you were watching Frankie Valli himself. I saw him twice because I loved his performance so much. He is also a very sweet guy who I met a couple of times. Good Luck to Cory now and in the future.

  11. We saw Jersey boys last April in NY, we were in the front row. This was the best play I have seen out of the last 12 plays. Cory Grant looks & singing stole my heart. The ladies in the isle with me didn’t have a dry eye throught the play. All the Actors were great! But Cory’s singing pulled on my heartstrings. I hope to get to see him in NY again!

  14. My wife and I visited Manhattan from Ottawa Canada and we attended the July 3rd matinee. This was our first visit to New York and Broadway. We were absolutely floored by the big Apple. The highlight of the trip was definitely the “Jersey Boys” and Cory Grant’s performance. Since returning home, I’ve spent hours looking at old videos and reading up on the tremendously talented cast. Our show also featured Sebastian Arcelus, Dominic Nolfi and John Hickman. We are still talking about it a week later and I’m seriously considering the 4 hour trip to Toronto to see the show again. A must see for anyone who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s!
