In Honor of the Late, Great Nick Massi on His Birthday, Part Two: ‘Oh, Carol’!

September 19th, 2013

As we continue to honor the late Nick Massi on his birthday today, check out the Four Seasons’ rendition of “Oh, Carol”–with Nick’s amazing vocal arrangements, bass vocals, and his spoken lines! Truly one of my favorites from the “Sherry & 11 Others” album!

Do you have a favorite Four Seasons’ song that really shows off Nick Massi’s vocal arrangements, his phenomenal bass vocals or his bass guitar? Let us know & we’ll post it!

  2. Nick Massi, honestly, was – is – absolutely amazing. There are so many songs that I could recommend because of his amazing vocals, bass and arrangements. Some of my favorites are Little Pony (which, I believe, he co-wrote with Bob Gaudio), especially the solo version he had under “Alex Alda”. He also wrote Living Just For You, which I love to death. And he has a great spoken part in the Four Seasons’ version of Little Darlin’.
    Happy birthday, Nick Massi!! <3

  3. Happy Birthday dad,

You are very much missed, loved and will continue to be remembered by all who truly admired you.
Who says BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY!!!!

Olivia, that is one of my favorites as well, listening to his voice singing “Little Darlin”.

Dad and Bob Gaudio also co-wrote a song “NICKY” and “ALL THE WAY HOME I CRYED”. Its not on the album.

Hearing that deep voice on “Mack the knife, and Don’t let Go sounding as if Elvis or Bobby Darin were in the room. I feel when U have a good voice on your own (original) and U can sound like another artist as well / U are good.

How do U make a Hit Song then to add a bit of Sinatra with “Day In Day Out”. The blend of “The 4 Seasons voices were always amazing to me. Such Harmony. Every song on every album, and every song after dad left the group we gave great support to a group we love.

Over 13 albums The 4 Seasons recorded, Every song on each album or those he wrote was always very special to Nick Massi yes he loved “Rag Doll” dad loved each song from the FIRST album to the LAST. Each song was special to him.

It would be nice to share with the fans/so they may hear the sound:

    *MACK THE KNIFE (Bobby Darin)
    *DON’T LET GO (Elvis)
    *Little Darlin
Nick Massi rocks these songs on “The 4 Seasons” album

    Thanks, Susie U amaze me.

From the oldest daughter of “The 4 Seasons”
    Love U dad xxx

  4. There’s a line in the 4 Seasons stage version of Mack the Knife that says “…put a scare in Bobby Darin” and Nick Massi’s rendition of Mack the Knife certainly does that rivaling Bobby Darin’s version…and then some. Not only was Nick Massi a great singer but he was also a great showman.
