Big news in The Star: JERSEY BOYS will be playing Malyasia in April! Below is a sneak peek of the article with the big scoop–the Tony Award-winning musical will not include the show’s profanities!!

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians can be assured of a good, clean show in the musical Jersey Boys despite its Broadway version being known for its profanities.

The internationally acclaimed show, about the true story of American hitmakers Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, will be staged at Istana Budaya Auditorium from April 15 to April 27.

Despite removing profanity from the script, the show would not lose its appeal, organiser Milestone Production managing director Grace Lee said.

“The emotions, elements and the gist of the story will be retained. The scenes, sets, sounds and lighting will be exactly the same as New York,” she said.

Children as young as seven years could watch it, she added.

  1. It’s not truly ‘authentic’ if you aren’t getting the real Jersey language of the street and the time. Plus with the guns and sex…well, I wouldn’t take a f**king seven year old.

  2. Nicola beat me to it. It wouldn’t be authentic. If they (Malaysians) don’t like it, then they can go F*** themselves. ;)

  3. This could probably be the template for the high school version of the show. Remember how they toned down GREASE. The original book was much darker than what you now see on stage and even the movie GREASE made comical versions of the characters.

  4. NOW who’s the nincompoop?

  5. I can appreciate exposing youth to an inspiring story and great music history to fill the gym auditorium. Parents, pass the scotch, I’ll even buy a ticket!
