JLY To Perform at NY Pops Gala, 4/30

BroadwayWorld.com reports that on Monday, April 30, 2007, Tony Award-winner John Lloyd Young, along with other stars from Broadway, popular music, film, and television, will perform on the Carnegie Hall stage with The New York Pops in support of the orchestra and its education programs and free Summermusic concerts. The 24th Birthday Gala, entitled Musical Fireworks, will honor Macy’s and orchestra patrons Paula and Tom McInerney, and feature a tribute to Neil Sedaka on the 50th anniversary of his start in show business. The gala begins at 7PM.

John Lloyd Young will join the Young People’s Chorus of New York City under the direction of Francisco Nunez in an new version of “What A Wonderful World,” that was arranged by Ron Melrose and orchestrated by Steve Orich.

Reserve tickets now at www.newyorkpops.org. Purchasing two tickets or more for the black-tie dinner dance at The Pierre places you on the Benefit Committee, which is listed in the evening’s program and in the orchestra’s Playbill throughout the 2007 season.

  1. This was truly a wonderful event last year. Of course, the highlight for me was the performance by the Jersey Boys. But what made the evening so special was the wide variety of entertainers…Liza Minelli, Elaine Stritch, an incredible young concert pianist Chu-Fang Huang, Kid Rock, Darlene Love and Marvin Hamlisch to name a few. What a treat that JLY will again be performing!
