Steve Orich Is Orchestrating Paint Your Wagon

April 27th, 2007

Playbill.com reports that Jersey Boys’ Tony Award-nominated orchestrator Steve Orich is orchestrating the world-premier, pre-Broadway tryout of the Lerner and Loewe Old West musical, Paint Your Wagon, which has been in the works for several years. The musical will emerge in a staging by Utah’s Pioneer Theatre Company this fall.

PTC’s 2007-08 season in Salt Lake City will launch in September with the world premiere of a revised version of the 1951 Lerner and Loewe musical that gave the world “I Talk to the Trees” and “They Called the Wind Maria.” PTC’s artistic director Charles Morey stated,

“I love what he’s (David Rambo) done with the script. The new orchestrations are by Steve Orich, who was nominated for a Tony Award last year for his orchestrations for the Broadway hit Jersey Boys.”

Paint Your Wagon runs at Pioneer Theatre Company from September 28 through October 13, 2007.
