The Earth Moved On Stage in San Francisco!

March 4th, 2007

Jersey Boys national tour ROCKS the house at every show, but last Thursday evening, the cast felt the earth move, and so did the audience!

On Eric Gutman’s Tour This blog, and on Stage Manager Patty’s Brooklyn Knit Chick blog, you’ll get all of the details on Thursday evening’s earthquake!

On March 1, San Francisco’s East Bay was hit with a 4.2 earthquake. Everyone felt it in the audience and on the stage, and Erich Bergen stopped the show…literally…stopped the show. This was the third earthquake since the cast and crew arrived in November, but this one was the biggest.

After a brief pause in the action during the largest rattle, while the audience was murmuring, Tommy DeVito (Deven May) waited a second while they settled and then went right on with the scene with his next line, “But when it crashes don’t come crying to me.”–which was followed by a BIG audience relief laugh.

Within minutes, the show resumed, and the actors were greeted with even more than the usual enthusiasm (and ladies’ underwear) on stage!
