The Hard Working London Jersey Girls!

May 3rd, 2008

Discovering that there are just three Jersey Girls in Jersey Boys was a real surprise for Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail.

That’s because Suzy Bastone, Michelle Francis and Amy Pemberton play multiple roles in the hit show about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and their links with mobsters while growing up in New Jersey in the Fifties and Sixties.

Suzy, who grew up in Cranleigh, Surrey, plays Valli’s sharp-tongued first wife Mary Delgado, plus back-up singers and assorted girlfriends. Michelle, from Grays in Essex, has a heart-breaking turn as Valli’s daughter Francine, and takes on the parts of an Italian mother and various waitresses. Amy, who was raised in East Anglia, told me she has 15 wig changes in the first act alone, and Suzy added that at one point in the musical, at the Prince Edward Theatre, she has five seconds to change characters.

  1. Very nice article. It’s too bad that the NYC papers didn’t run something like this for the OBC girls, Jennifer Naimo, Sara Schmidt, Erica Piccininni and Heather Ferguson. Glad the folks in the UK recognize how important the Jersey Girls are to the show and have given them some press coverage! This does reflect on our OBC girls as that’s where it all started! Let’s hear it for the Jersey Girls!!!
