Valli’s Thoughts on JB, His Career and Future Projects

April 20th, 2007

NWI Times Correspondent Tom Lounges has an in-depth story on Frankie Valli, who talks about the phenomenal success of Jersey Boys; his chart-topping success as the lead singer with the Four Seasons; and what’s happening with him in the near future.

Valli said he is thrilled with the Jersey Boys depiction of his story with the Four Seasons:

It’s pretty dead on and very factual. The writers, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, put ‘Jersey Boys’ together from the many stories they had gotten from myself, Bob and Tommy DeVito, who was one of the original Four Seasons. Marshall and Rick have done a great job writing and we really got lucky having Des McAnuff, who directed ‘Tommy’ on Broadway.

Along with live performances, Valli is enjoying acting–most recently playing Rusty Millio on “The Sopranos.” He tells the reporter that there’s a film project in the wind right now, but didn’t elaborate on the details.

In the meantime, Valli has been recording an as-yet-untitled solo album for Universal Records, where he wraps his vocals around hit songs made famous by other artists. About the upcoming recording, Valli states,

Every singer has those certain songs that they wish they had been offered first and been the first to record. So this is an album of the songs I feel that way about, from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Songs like ‘Let It Be Me,’ ‘What A Wonderful World,’ ‘What Becomes of the Broken Hearted’ and ‘This Guy’s in Love.’
